JTM BAE Hawk – Video Review 3

Marvin's JTM Bae Hawk

Below is the final episode of FlyBoyTha1’s great review of the JTM Hawk.
He concludes the Video Review with the flight of his finished model.

His Black Colored Hawk is equipped with:

  • TamJets TJ90 Fan shroud with a WeMoTec Midi Fan Rotor
  • NeuMotors 1415/1.5Y on 8S
  • Hyperion 4200 35C 8S Lipo Pack
  • TamJet Oleo Struts and MPI wheels (brakes will be added in the near future)

The power setup used generates 2.2kW at 8S with 80Amp peak

Mirage 2000B

Jet Arrows Mirage 2000B by Rolf A few pictures of Rolf’s Jet Arrows Mirage 2000B.
The model features Behotec retracts with Jet1A oleo struts, a 90mm carbon fan and a NeuMotors 1512-2.5D, YGE BEC ESC and 6S Lipo.
The model is painted and covered with 2k clear. Decals are from Tailormade.
Current draw is around 90A. The model is capable of taking off from a grass runway and flies like a rocket.

As all of Rolf’s models also the Mirage 2000B features a full lighting system with after burner emulation.

Some info on the full size plane:bottom view of rolf's mirage 2000B
The Dassault Mirage 2000 is a French multirole, single-engine fourth-generation jet fighter manufactured by Dassault Aviation. It was designed as a lightweight fighter based on the Mirage III in the late 1970s for the French Air Force. The Mirage 2000 evolved into a successful multirole aircraft with several variants developed. The variants include the Mirage 2000N and 2000D strike variants, the improved Mirage 2000-5 and several export variants. Over 600 aircraft were built and it is in service in nine countries as of 2009.

New: Stumax SM110-45

Sm110-45 1

Latest Arrival: Stumax SM110-45 EDF System with NeuMotors 1527-1.5Y.

The SM110-45 EDF system is the latest from Stumax Aircraft. It is the same diameter as the SM110-52 (it actually uses the same orange shroud, so swapping between the two is a snap), however that’s where the similarity ends. The SM110-45 was designed for the high speed end of the flight envelope and is intended for R/C pilots who just want ultimate performance. The motor is housed in a precision CNC machined aluminium centrebody which is anodised blue to increase the surface emissivity coefficient, so that it emits (radiates) heat more than 10 times faster than a plain machined aluminium part. This centrebody features semi-circular grooves machined along its length to provide excellent cooling for the Neumotors 15 series motor. These grooves are machined with a curved path close to the stators so that they match the flow around the stator for maximum efficiency and minimum turbulence, unlike other fans which have taken the easy route and machined straight cooling fins. The cooling fin grooves are semi-circular in section so that there is smoother airflow through them, and so there is still adequate aluminium left on the heatsink to absorb thermal transients, or spikes. Attaching to the rear of the centrebody is a lightweight moulded carbon fibre after fairing which also incorporates an airfoiled section through which the motor cables may pass. The dynamically balanced, four bladed, hand laid carbon fibre rotor is designed to maintain a constant power loading on the motor at all airspeeds, and achieves unmatched dynamic efficiency at high airspeeds. It is moulded using tip to tip unidirectional carbon fibre tows, with carbon fibre cloth on the blade exterior. Tip to tip carbon tows ensures the centrifugal loads of the blades transmit stresses through the fibres of one blade, through the hub and onto the opposing blade. This results in a rotor which is incredibly strong, with no chance of throwing a blade, unlike some fans which try to economise on carbon fibre by having a hollow hub with the carbon fibre being forced to bend from the blade into the circular section of the hub. The rear of the rotor hub has a precision machined driver bonded in place, with a tapered bore to match the tapered collet shaft adapter fitted to the motor. This method ensures the rotor is always perfectly aligned to the axis of the shaft. The five stator blades are solid carbon fibre, and are bonded to the aluminium centrebody and shroud with an aerospace grade adhesive.
