February 2012 features the picture of a scratch build Polikarpov I-16 Type 24. We took this picture during one of our trips to Germany at the yearly Jet & Warbird meet of the MFC Dachau near Munich.
From Wikipedia: The Polikarpov I-16 was a Soviet fighter aircraft of revolutionary design; it was the world’s first cantilever-winged monoplane fighter with retractable landing gear. The I-16 was introduced in the mid-1930s and formed the backbone of the Soviet Air Force at the beginning of World War II. The diminutive fighter, nicknamed “Ishak” (“donkey”) by Soviet pilots, prominently featured in the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Battle of Khalkhin Gol and the Spanish Civil War-where it was called the Rata (“rat”) by the Nationalists or Mosca (“fly”) by the Republicans. The Finnish nickname for I-16 was Siipiorava (“Flying Squirrel”).

After August’s Russian Mig-15, September features another plane from the same era. This picture of a F-86 Sabre was taken in 2008 during the 2008 Top Gun event in Lakeland Florida. As part of the presentation, the plane dropped the auxiliary tanks which can be still seen attached to the plane in our picture.

June features a picture we took during the 2008 Top Gun event in Lakeland Florida. The plane is a 4 engine (gasoline engines) powered B-29 Superfortress.
The model carries a rocket powered X-1 Glider under the wing (the mounts can be seen on the picture) which it drops at height. The X-1 is controlled by a second pilot who will, after a short glide, ignite the rocket motor and steer the X-1 back to height.

The month of May features Rolf’s fabulous build Jet Arrows Mirage 2000. The picture was taken in Germany during one of the Mirage sorties.
This EDF jet is powered by a 9mm Fan and 6-8S LiPo packs. The Mirage 2000 is unique as it is manufactured by JetArrows in one piece (fuselage and wing are one unit). Hence only the rudder needs to be glued on to complete the model.

The star of April 2011 is a Simons Jet Legend Bae Hawk. Simon stripped this Hawk of the usual JL factory paint job and repainted the model in the 2010 UK Hawk Demo Colors. A true work of art with countless hour spend in the workshop masking and painting.
The Hawk is powered by a JetCat Turbine. The picture was shot in February 2011 in Nusa Jaya Malaysia. Make sure to check out the video of Simons Hawk on our YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/RCWarbirds1
